Some visits require anesthesia, which is noted in the patient chart. To ensure proper billing, employees review chart notes to determine if anesthesia was used.

Solution

Automatically review patient chart notes for keywords and return a list of patients/visits in which anesthesia was used. Return a separate list where anesthesia was not used for human verification. Continue to build keyword list.

Results

Automation captures the most obvious instances, saving employee time and effort. The process continues to improve as additional keywords are added.
